DEEP RECORD REVIEW

Here's another kind review of the "Lessons" LP from Jerseybeat.com.

The reviewer has some qualms about some of the gendered power dynamics of our lyrics dealing with relationships.

For the record, the lyric “I need a tube or two of super glue / so I can glue her to me today” is 98% about rhyming “shooby-doo“ with “to be true“, “tube or two”, “superglue” and “glue her to”. It’s not meant to convey the idea that the woman should be attached to the man because of any sense of possession or anything. More like, “I’m really happy when this girl is around--I want us to be around each other as much as possible”. Hopeless romantic stuff.

Hope that settles that.
